All precious things, discover’d late,
To those that seek them issue forth;
For love in sequel works with fate,
And draws the veil from hidden worth.
...Tennyson...
There is something so alluring about dusk which makes even die-hard pessimists forget their pessimism at those magical hours of transformation. The dusk-lady slowly steals over and bewitches the atmosphere with her magnificence. The sky looks like a prayer and the doors to heaven are ajar for just that delightful moment. To me, dusk is a mesmerizing package of spirituality, beauty and contentment. The sweet smell of burning incense sticks, the warm glow of the lamp lending a mysterious glow to all the little bronze idols in my ‘pooja’ place, Ganga aarati followed by Hanumaan Chaalisa all make me worship dusk and think of the wonderful power reigning from above. I believe dusk itself is a prayer. One need not take an extra effort to pray at that time. It is just enough to sit back with contentment and count your joys and blessings in an unhurried way and enjoy the warmth which only your loved ones could give you. The mellowness that settles on all beings makes time stand still and look at Mother Nature with a new sort of reverence.The dusk seems to give human kind the message ‘nothing is permanent except immortal beauty’.
